Mathematics

Hello and welcome students and parents! I hope you will find this year worthwhile and challenging in your math classes. My name is Katy Katzmann and I teach Intermediate College Algebra, Algebra II, Math 6/7, Math 4/5, and HS Technology.

In Intermediate College Algebra, we are completing Chapter I, and have a test on Wednesday, Sept 24.

In Algebra II, the students have taken their first Chapter test and will continue on with Permutations this week.

Math 6/7 has been working on rational numbers, percents-decimals-fractions, and are now fervently working on basic skill review such as finding factors, multiples, mental math multiplication, and more fractions! The students are working at their own pace, and seem to be excited to complete each skill and move on the the next. Hey, it's not a race guys! Luisana took home two extra math worksheets this week....way to go. Next week, we move on to exponents.

Math 4/5 just completed their second test with flying colors! The test covered estimation in column addition, problem solving with estimation, and subracting across zeros with regrouping. The class meets daily for 35 minutes, rather than on the block schedule. We feel that this is a better model for the 4th/5th graders because they can practice daily math.
