Accelerated Reader Pit Stop!

As I noted in previous posts the AR program is off to an incredible start. Currently we have:

-13 students who have made it to one of the point clubs.
-collectively passed 318 tests!
-earned 396.2 school wide points which is only about 100 points away from our fun day goal.

The AR program is set up to run on our network so students can take tests from any computer in the school. We ran into several issues where AR was not properly recording students' tests. A number of helpful solutions have quickly come into place which restored the AR program back to full health. I am in debt 3 thank yous, which I would like to give out now:

1. The Huff family: They sold the school a bunch of excellent IT equipment at a price far below its real value. One of those items was Evan's gaming computer which we are now using to run the AR data base.

2. Mr. Ron: Ms. Sherri's friend. He has a lot of networking experience in a business environment, and he has been assisting me with fine tuning our network configuration. This will ensure the AR program will continue to run smoothly.

3. The Dust Bunnies: A big thanks to the many Dust Bunnies lurking in the storage areas in our nearly 50 year old building for not attacking the two original 3.5" floppy (pictured above) AR install disks I needed to repair the data base. It has been a few years since the last time I used one of these now very obsolete disks.

All the computers in Media Lab #1 have been relinked to the new AR database so please send your students there for now to take their tests. I will be relinking the classroom computers and Media Lab #2 this week.
