Cabling Project:
All houses now have internet! We have finally recovered from the windstorm that knocked out many of our internet cables this summer. We used up all 300 meters of our cat-5 cabling and will be purchasing more so we won't be caught without cable again in the future. Cabling will be installed in the last two classrooms in the main school wing next week. I still have not had sufficient time to determine the connection problem in the Kinder, Science, and Spanish rooms. I will be moving on to that project next.
Bandwidth:
The school and homes all share the same internet bandwidth. If you notice the internet slowing down during the day please limit your use or student use of high bandwidth applications that are not being used for an educational purpose. Here's a list of high bandwidth apps:
-Limewire and similar file sharing programs (These programs are particularly bad as they often launch automatically at startup-which can be disabled-using up bandwidth even when you are not downloading items.
-Internet Radio
-Downloading Podcasts
-Streaming Video
